How LTL works
LTL is built for shipments too big for a courier but too small to fill a trailer. We combine your freight with other customers' shipments heading the same way, so you share the cost of the truck.
- Pay only for the space you use
- Ideal for smaller shipments, from a single pallet up to a partial load
- The same service as a full load: live GPS tracking and a 24/7 dispatch team
Why ship LTL with KTG
- Asset-based: your freight moves on KTG trucks with KTG drivers
- Warehousing in Ayr: secure storage and custom packaging such as shrink-wrapping, so freight can be held, prepared and shipped when you need it
- Cross-border know-how: we file ACI and ACE eManifests in-house. Ask us about LTL on your lane, including cross-border.
- Room to grow: when your volume grows, the same team can move you to full truckload or expedited service
Getting your LTL quote right
An accurate LTL quote needs a few details:
- Pickup and delivery locations
- Number of pallets or pieces
- Dimensions and weight of each
- Type of freight, and anything special such as hazmat or temperature needs
- Whether either location needs a liftgate or has delivery appointment times
Common questions
What is LTL shipping?
LTL (less than truckload) means your freight shares a trailer with other shipments going the same way, so you pay only for the space you use.
When should I choose full truckload instead?
When your freight fills most of a trailer, is time-critical or needs to go direct with no other stops. Our article on FTL vs LTL explains how to choose.
Do you offer warehousing for LTL freight?
Yes. Our Ayr facility offers secure storage and custom packaging such as shrink-wrapping.
